Bassist T.M. Stevens, known for his work with Narada Michael Walden, Steve Vai, Cissy Houston, Tina Turner, James Brown, Billy Joel and many others has passed away at the age of 72. T.M. passed away at a care facility after a long battle with dementia.
Stevens, born in the Bronx, New York, was known for his energetic personality and love of music and the bass. His earliest work was with drummer Norman Connors and vocalist, drummer, multi-instrumentalist and well renowned songwriter and producer Narada Michael Walden. With Narada, T.M. would record some of his most iconic basslines including “I Shoulda Loved Ya,” “Tonight I’m Alright” and “Lovin’ You Madly.”
T.M. played bass with a who’s who of the top artists in the world during his career including Walden, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, James Brown, Steve Vai and even Miles Davis. Friends and fans will remember T.M. for his funky basslines, great groove and magnetic personality and his body of work will be found by music lovers everywhere for years and years to come
