Alex Browne is a professional upright and electric bassist and music educator based in Washington, DC. A recent transplant from Austin, TX, Browne has worked with many artists in genres spanning Jazz, R&B, Funk, Soul, Salsa, Classical, Bluegrass, Contemporary Christian, and countless others. Notable performances include appearances with Ben Sollee, Gil Del Bosque, Ginny Mac, Aubrey Logan, Altin Sencalar, Woody Witt, Dennis Dotson, Daniel Dufour, Collin Shook, Adrian Ruiz, Ephraim Owens, Matchmaker Band, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, Dave Manley, Aaron Myers, Herb Scott, Dana Hawkins, and many others.
In 2014, Browne Graduated Cum Laude from the University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies, and in 2017 Browne earned a Master’s Degree in Bass Performance with a Jazz Emphasis from The University of Texas at Austin. He has studied privately under Lynn Seaton, John Fremgen, and Andy Moritz.
In addition to his performance schedule, Browne is a former Adjunct Professor of Bass at Austin Community College, where he also taught Music Appreciation and History of American Music. Browne is currently the bassist for the United States Air Force Singing Sergeants and works additionally as a freelance bassist in the DMV area. Browne is also endorsed by Genzler Amplification and NS Design.
